At the end of 2023, we announced with great excitement the newest cohort of our Global Connect programme; IETM’s flagship initiative to make our network more inclusive, diverse and accessible by including and supporting diverse voices and perspectives. 

On Tuesday 30 April 2024, we invited all IETM members to join the first Global Connect Conversation Starter online sessions to directly hear from the ten Global Connectors of 2024 and learn about their context, projects and practices. 

Our aim was to spark conversations which we hoped would continue digitally as well as physically during the IETM Sofia Plenary Meeting. The 2024 Global Connectors are receiving support to join us in Sofia with the help of IETM´s Associate Members and in Sofia there will be a dedicated session to follow-up on the Conversation Starters. 

How will it work?

On 30 April, we hosted two sessions to cater for different time zones of the membership and the Global Connectors. Both sessions were facilitated by IETM member Simón Adinia Hanukai:

• 11:00-12:15 CEST

• 17:00-18:15 CEST

Five Global Connectors presented themselves, their work and practice during each session. You can see what each Global Connector focussed on during their presentation below.

After listening to the presentations by the Global Connectors, participants were randomly allocated to five break-out rooms. Each breakout room were joined by one Global Connector and participants had the opportunity to ask any questions they had and started a conversation.
