Do you remember that scene in the Buster Keaton film ‘Steamboat Bill, Jr?’ There are storm clouds in the air. It starts to rain. A single sheet of newspaper flies through the air. The storm gets stronger. People are running away, they flee the city. The roof of the hospital is lifted off and we see him… we see Buster.

Tour 2 – CCA to Hill Street, Garnethill
Establishment shot. A beautiful wide view over the city, it’s Paris of course, I imagine it does look over Paris. Though I can’t see any specific landmarks. There’s also two spires just there. Maybe it doesn’t have to be specifically Paris. A camera looks out over... a city at morning. Let’s keep it non-specific. A morning, lamppost, a cityscape in the mist. Classic.

Tour 3 – The Arches to Broomielaw, Commerce St Bridge
Diane Keaton: Isn’t it beautiful out?
Woody Allen: Yeah it’s really so so pretty when the light starts to come up.
Diane Keaton: I know I love it.
Woody Allen: Boy this is really a great city I don’t care what anybody says. It’s just really a knockout you know?

These performative tours will meet participants at venues around the city and lead them to sites that remind the tour guide of significant moments from classic movies. In an attempt to transform these everyday locations into sites of romantic and cinematic beauty, we can cast the city as one huge film set and the site of many converging narratives.

Cove Park is situated on a 50-acre site overlooking Loch Long on the Rosneath peninsula. Invited artists are given the time, space and freedom to concentrate on the development of their work. Cove Park provides a supportive context in which artists can devise new projects, experiment and engage with artists working in different fields or with different approaches to their practice. Located on the fringes of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Research & Development Project with Angus Balbernie & Norman Douglas : Open rehearsal and artist talk 
This collaboration between these two International choreographers Angus Balbernie (UK, Argentina, Belgium, Spain, Holland and Berlin) and Norman Douglas (Prague, Sweden, Norway, Vienna, Scotland, Berlin and Hamburg) explore what is shared and what is radically different in the separate approaches of these two choreographers and directors. Each artist will use premeditated movement from their current repertoires, and/or newly devised material created by the participants, to explore the notion of what it takes for both to achieve any centripetal existence between two choreographers whose works and movement language come from the extremities of differential borders, physiological pathways, and different forms of engagement through image and language.

The Company employs 36 professional dancers, 41 staff and a part-time freelance orchestra of up to 70 musicians. Scottish Ballet's primary aim is to provide programmes of world-class dance performance and educational activity at all scales.

The 21st Century Conservatoire: Championing new work, fresh thinking and imagination in the face of austerity. A panel of theatre makers, producers and educators examines the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama’s growing role as a supporter and promoter of emerging artists and new works. The panel will imagine the future impact of a national conservatoire committed to full engagement with the profession through partnerships, co-productions, practical research and continuing professional development. With a public funding crisis looming, can we afford to maintain this enhanced role beyond our ‘core’ function of education and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level? Can we afford not to? A panel discussion hosted by The School of Drama in The New Athenaeum Theatre.

Audiences in many countries have been fascinated by its magic, and based in Glasgow since 1996, it has gained a reputation as one of the city’s hidden treasures.

The Art School has produced most of Scotland's leading contemporary artists including, since 2005, 30% of Turner Prize nominees and two of the last five Turner Prize winners: Simon Starling in 2005 and Richard Wright in 2009. The Mackintosh Building was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1899 and is still a working art school. It houses a number of Mackintosh art works and furniture.

They have recently opened a new set of studios in The Briggait, a beautiful Grade A listed building in Glasgow’s medieval quarter, the Merchant City. Originally built in 1873, the Briggait was the city’s fish market for over 100 years. It has now been transformed into a vibrant new home for over 80 visual artists and cultural organisations.

In addition, there will be a chance to sit in on a development rehearsal of a new piece about disability, written and directed by Pol Heyvaert (Victoria, Campo). The Company will also present a short piece of existing work and invite guests to join them in a glass of wine.
